Black Supermoon in Leo ~ What gets you going?
Tonight at 11:12pm, we have a new moon in Leo, a black supermoon at that. With four planets in Leo and the retrogrades still working their magic, this new moon asks us some important, yet impatient questions. Fire signs are all about inspiration and energetic movement within our mental, emotional and physical beings. So this new moon the question that comes up is what gets you going? Where in your life are you feeling all the motivations, or lack thereof, and why?
Since Leo is a fiery romantic sign ruling the heart, our romantic interests and relationships are likely to be an area where we feel motivated at this time. The eclipses and retrogrades have been digging up our shadows and asking us to look at where we project them onto others, specially in intimate relationships. Now, as Mercury is about to go direct (woohoo!), our minds at least are less foggy and we are better able to think and process everything that has been coming up for us.
Nonetheless, shadows or no shadows, all this Leonine energy is going to ramp up the romance while silently in the background the retrograde planets ask us to explore who and what we are attracted to and turned on by. While the conjunction of the moon to venus stirs our emotions and desire for fun, the square from uranus to the moon warns of unexpected surprises and potential emotional outbursts (Leo is a dramatic fire sign after all).
The other area that this supermoon activates is our creativity and desire to explore the fun side of life. Depending on where this moon falls in your chart, you might feel inspired to try something new, to create, and you will feel a boost in your physical energy levels as well. With all this fifth house energy it’s hard to avoid the restlessness and agitation, so I highly recommend physical activity to manage your energy levels. Go hiking, dancing, do yoga, make love. Allow your creative juices to percolate through movement and you might feel inspired to go for something big.
New moons are always a good time to start new projects, habits, or even to invest in that business idea you have always had but never really went for. Leo energy is gutsy, so you might feel braver than usual about taking chances and risks. For the most part, I say go for it, but be aware that we are still under the influence of the eclipse cycle that started beginning of July as well as the ongoing outer planet retrogrades, so all might not be as it seems.
More than likely though, we might be inclined to look before we leap and so we might have to learn through trial and error as to what is sustainable and what isn’t. The beautiful thing about mistakes is that they allow us to discover aspects of ourselves we were not familiar with before (did someone say shadows again?). And when we discover these aspects of ourselves, we are then able to bring more clarity into our being and create room for self-love, which is the biggest romance any of us will ever have in our lives.
This poem aptly sums up the patterns that this new moon and planetary vibes bring out in us:
“I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost... I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I am in the same place.
But, it isn't my fault.
It still takes me a long time to get out.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in. It's a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault. I get out immediately.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
I walk down another street.”
